WISE COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Samantha McNorton, whose body was discovered buried in Wise County on Sunday.
David Malone, 29, was arrested in connection with McNorton’s death after he “directed Investigators to a remote location off Greenwood Road where he had buried the body of Samantha McNorton,” according to a Wise County Sheriff’s Office release.
McNorton was first reported missing to the Richland Hills Police Department on Nov. 14. The Wise County Sheriff’s Office began assisting Richland Hills police on Nov. 15.
The joint investigation revealed that McNorton had last been seen in the Runaway Bay area (near Lake Bridgeport), leaving with Malone.
Wise County Deputies, Parker County Deputies and a Montague County District Attorney’s Investigator located Malone on Nov. 15 in Cooke County. He was taken into custody and returned to Parker County, where he was wanted on outstanding felony warrants.
On the morning of Nov. 18, Malone revealed the location of McNorton’s body to Wise County Investigators and Texas Rangers.
The body was exhumed and sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences for manner of death and positive identification.
The investigation is ongoing.
Malone was taken to Wise County Jail, where his bond is set at $2 million.
